I pray I never have to "visit" (that makes it sound so pleasant, doesn't it?) the SS office!Debbie Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15377466170677811306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597573855773762098.post-71793587860593103922012-08-05T08:01:14.380-05:002012-08-05T08:01:14.380-05:00Mr. Middleton's remark is so telling!! I had ...Mr. Middleton's remark is so telling!! I had a similar experience on this end going to the P'cola office. (Michael had changed his last name when we got married so my special form was a certificate of name change.) I didn't like the waiting area, either. Also, they'd leave me at the window and not tell me what they were doing or how long they'd be gone. And you have to repeat everything to everybody. I had issues once my payments started. Eventually my grandmother recommended I call my congressman's office to have them resolved (she's very smart). I did that. Had an audit done on my account (we'd been receiving benefits since Michael retired on medical disability, but he was the payee, not me -- and then the amounts were less but they should have been more, after his passing). Even the audit took twice as long as they said it would. But it netted me a couple hundred dollars (I thought it would have been at least a thousand). BUT the SS keeps us afloat and I am so thankful that it is available. We read Ralph Moody's Man of the Family aloud-Ralph and his sister took all kinds of jobs, sold their mother's "cookery" to keep the family out of the poorhouse after their father died. A true story from 100 years ago. So -- we're very fortunate. I hope your payments flow smoothly and correctly. Blessings to you, my sister!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15909101778145406509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597573855773762098.post-22410744766035287432012-08-04T08:42:20.395-05:002012-08-04T08:42:20.395-05:00But you see Aimee, marriage is not important to to...But you see Aimee, marriage is not important to today's societyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08653482717394019327noreply@blogger.com
